An album of bittersweet beauty, full of ambivalence and good pop. Steiner & Madlaina release their fourth studio album, Nah Dran, two and a half years after their last album. With its warm pop sound and, as always, excellent lyrics, it is a work that keeps the promise of this duo, but takes a step forward. In its content, this album deals with the most important insight of our time: the world is contradictory and we have to learn to endure that. The songs tell precise and poetic stories about self-doubt, political views, relationships, zeitgeist and society; they are witty, deep, ambiguous, quotable and contemporary.

The sound of this indie pop album touches on jazz, singer-songwriting and orchestral elements. Wind instruments, strings, a children’s choir and piano meet guitars and handmade sounds. The production is in love with detail, sometimes organic, sometimes electronic, bold in many ways, often all-in. Despite all its complexity, Nah Dran remains danceable, sing-alongable and easy.

It is good-humored pop music with spirit - nostalgic, playful, but never naive. An album that criticizes society through selfcriticism, that celebrates and reflects, that is not satisfied with simple answers. (And love is not missing out either).
